A charity like Pepenbury depends on good governance and the dedication of staff to ensure we deliver high quality services.
We are extremely grateful to our Trustees for the skills that they bring and for the dedication of our hard working staff.
Pepenbury’s Trustees are volunteers who give their time freely to ensure that the charity works to meet its overall objectives. They set the overall strategy and ethics of the charity and act as ethical friends monitoring the work of the charity so it continues to provide the best possible support to adults with learning and other disabilities.
Trustees ensure that:
- The wellbeing of the service users is paramount
- All legal requirements are met
- The charity remains financially secure and charity funds are used well
Trustees commit to a minimum of six meetings a year (more if they are part of a sub-committee), plus any personal involvement in visiting charity premises and reviewing systems.
The greater the range of skills and experience the members of our board have, the better. When a vacancy for a trustee arises the Chairman of the Board or the Chief Executive would be happy to discuss your possible involvement before you make any commitment. You are also welcome to sit in on a Board Meeting and meet the other people involved before making your decision. Several of our trustees are parents or close relatives of an adult with a learning disability and we are able to benefit from their personal experience.
