Acorn Day Services- With more and more people living independent lives and wanting to find constructive things to do with their days, Pepenbury is well set up to offer a structured service to meet the individual's needs and preferences. Whether it is arts and crafts or sailing, indoor bowls or horse riding, each person is encouraged to make informed choices and to take reasonable risks in order to help themselves to develop their full potential.

Our objectives are to provide a stimulating and therapeutic environment in which the people who attend are encouraged to express themselves through various creative media and to assist our users in developing their independent living skills.

The service is also able to provide specialist care for people with complex needs and those who present challenging behaviour. This can be achieved by working with the individual on a one-to-one or two-to-one basis depending upon the requirements of the person.

We structure our sessions to run with a maximum of six service users to one staff member and depending on the activity this may be as low as four service users.

The year is split into two terms, the summer term running from April to September and the winter term October to March. This allows the service users the option of altering their personal timetables if they wish to try new or different activities and also for the timetable to be changed to incorporate our seasonal activities such as fishing and cricket.
